Description

Friday Art Club is now online! End the week in your own studio making art while hanging out with friends who like making art too. Each week, we will introduce a new project or subject to get our creative juices flowing. Join the club! Supplies to have on hand for each session listed below:

Painting with Anusha Saran
April 9 & 16
Supplies: 
Canvas or thick paper, black sharpie marker, Watercolor, brushes, pencil, and eraser

Artisan Crafting with Jessie Schadt
April 23, 30 & May 7
Supplies: Class 1: Felt, Scissors, Needle and Thread, Ball Point Pen or Sharpie Marker; Class 2: Coloring Page (choose a favorite pattern from an adult or modern coloring book. Alternatively, they can draw their own pattern... in which case white paper is fine!), Soup Can (Empty, washed and dried + label removed), Scissors, Ruler, Pencil, Colored Pencils (or other coloring tools), Sharpie Marker, Elmer’s Glue or Gift Wrap Tape (like Scotch tape) Class 3: Corrugated Cardboard (save the flaps from a shipping box), Colorful Yarns or String/Embroidery threads, Gift Wrap Tape (like Scotch tape), Scissors, Pencil

Supplies: Paper, ruler, colored pencils, markers or sharpies.  Optional: a tablet or iPad with digital pencil and Procreate app downloaded to the desktop


Painting and Collage with Emily Buchalski
June 4 & 11

Supplies: acrylic paint, thick paper or canvas, string/yarn, paintbrushes, plates to mix colors, construction paper, scissors, glue, scrap paper (newspaper, magazine), embellishments (buttons, gems, etc.), Watercolor paints, brushes, watercolor or thick paper


About the Teaching Artists
Emily Buchalski is a New Jersey-based artist. In May 2018, Buchalski earned her BFA, cum laude, with a concentration in sculpture, from Mason Gross School of the Arts. For years, she has gained experience teaching individuals of all ages with all different types of mediums, always making her student’s artistic needs her number one priority. She earned a position as a visual arts adjunct professor at Mercer County Community College. In her own artistic practice, Buchalski focuses on sculpture and painting. She specializes in mixing different mediums and styles to create unique pieces of artwork.



Ryan Gilleece is a 2015 graduate of the Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Arts currently working on the webcomic, Artificial Tears. He specializes in sequential art and character design, and both traditional and digital media. He is an aftercare counselor and a summer enrichment instructor for the Piscataway School system.

 



Anusha Saran is a mixed media artist and teacher who is best known for her intricate multi-media paintings.  Her work has won several awards in India and the US. She has a BA in Architecture and Masters in Design from the National Institute of Design (NID), India, specializing in Ceramic and Glass Design. She loves to share her love of design and art with children to help them explore their creative edge.

 

 

Jessica Schadt is a lifelong artist, athlete & fitness enthusiast. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Tyler School of Art, Temple University and works primarily in photo/video arts, digital art & design, as well as in flow & circus arts such as hoop dance. Jessie has several hoop dance videos featured on www.hooping.org, and a background working at various companies doing all things creative; from copy writing to digital editing & archiving to hoop dance and beyond!
