Description
Beginners and more experienced students alike will increase their skill and enjoyment of this exciting medium in this set of 3 workshops. Students will learn basic techniques such as wet-on-wet, glazing, and lifting while painting from nature. Bring your own natural items or enjoy choosing pods, flowers and plants from the instructor’s extensive gardens.
Materials list: $15 materials fee due to instructor on first day of class.
Covid Protocols: Adults are now required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test taken within 2 days of the in-person event or class. Classes, workshops, and events held in all spaces at the art center and Whole World Arts utilize an HVAC system supplemented with portable HEPA filtration systems. Classes and event seating are spaced appropriately to allow 3 - 6 ft. of social distancing. Acrylic barriers are utilized, as needed. Mask wearing is strongly encouraged for all adults, and required for all youth classes. All our staff and Teaching Artists have been vaccinated. High-touch surfaces are wiped down regularly using certified cleaning agents. Hand sanitizer is available in all spaces. Youth visual arts classes have their own sanitized art supplies to be used.
About the Teaching Artist
A native of West Windsor, Susan Mitrano is a certified K-12 Art Teacher who has taught in Princeton, Bridgewater and Montgomery schools as well as community art centers in NJ and PA. She has a BFA from Syracuse University in graphic design with a minor in photography. After a 15-year career as a designer and art director, Ms. Mitrano earned her BA in Art Education at The College of NJ. She is long time watercolorist, studying with Robert O’Brien, AWS in Vermont and others locally. She studied ceramics with Ursula Kaplowitz and enjoys working in many kinds of clay. She is also an avid printmaker and loves to share her knowledge of art history and art-making with the children she teaches.
