Tuesday: Guided Studio for Oil Painters [Adults & Teens]

Take your painting to the next level by working within a group of supportive intermediate and advanced oil painters. Explore painting challenges based on your interests and experience in this guided studio. You will review the fundamentals including principles of composition, light and shadow, basic perspective, and color theory as needed. Work on independent projects or follow prompts for inspiration. Develop your own unique style under Zakia’s experienced guidance. New and continuing students welcome.

Materials: Pre-stretched canvas (16x20 inches or smaller); oil painting set (suggested: Reeves brand, 12 colors); bristle or nylon oil brush set, linseed oils (smaller size); pencil; eraser; palette (disposable is fine) All supplies may be purchased from your local arts supply store. Covid Protocols: Adults are now required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test taken within 2 days of the in-person event or class. Classes, workshops, and events held in all spaces at the art center and Whole World Arts utilize an HVAC system supplemented with portable HEPA filtration systems. Classes and event seating are spaced appropriately to allow 3 - 6 ft. of social distancing. Acrylic barriers are utilized, as needed. Mask wearing is strongly encouraged for all adults, and required for all youth classes. All our staff and Teaching Artists have been vaccinated. High-touch surfaces are wiped down regularly using certified cleaning agents. Hand sanitizer is available in all spaces. Youth visual arts classes have their own sanitized art supplies to be used.

About the Teaching Artist
Zakia Ahmed has been teaching for over 25 years and is excited to offer classes at the West Windsor Arts Center, bringing her local loyal following with her. Ms. Ahmed has a Master’s of Fine Arts from the Institute of Fine Arts in Dhaka, Bangladesh.  Her works are on exhibit in the Bangladesh National Museum, Bangladesh Shilpkala Academy, and in many private collections worldwide.
