Description

Students will be learning still-life drawing and nature drawing, understanding the elements of art, and implementing it in their artwork. Learn about nature by drawing plants, trees, fruits, and vegetables. You will explore different drawing practices, such as patterning and zen tangle. Students will gain the confidence to create artworks close to nature by studying the light and shade effect. Applying different tones to create artworks in shading and color. Students will create work with pencil, pen, and colored pencils. *This class is a part of our Certificate in Fine Arts Program and will give each student one point towards their CiFA certification.

$45 materials fee due on the first day of class

Covid Protocols: Classes and workshops held in all spaces at the art center and Whole World Arts utilize an HVAC system supplemented with portable HEPA filtration systems. Fresh air is introduced whenever possible. Classes are spaced appropriately to allow 3 - 6 ft. of social distancing. Acrylic barriers are utilized, as needed. Mask wearing is strongly encouraged for all adults regardless of vaccination status, and required for all youth classes. All our staff and Teaching Artists have been vaccinated. High-touch surfaces are wiped down regularly using certified cleaning agents. Hand sanitizer is available in all classrooms. Youth visual arts classes have their own sanitized art supplies to be used.

About the Teaching Artist
Pratibha Raju is an artist and a visual art teacher. Pratibha earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts specializing in Drawing and Painting in 1998 from India. Since then she has been practicing and teaching drawing and painting in different styles and mediums. She has exhibited her paintings in oil and acrylic at the College Annual Art Shows and at the Coram Long Island and Piscataway libraries. Her watercolor landscape paintings were selected for the Plainsboro Preserve juried art shows for the last two years. Pratibha has completed many art and teaching courses online from the British Council and Coursera. She has taught in many schools for the last 20 years including the IB school in India with an emphasis on holistic teaching.
