Description

in this portfolio review, students will gain feedback from local, experienced artists and educators to help students build a stronger body of work. This opportunity is great for students looking to enter art school or exhibit in art galleries and want to build better portfolios for AP art class or college applications. Students should bring in 10-20 pieces of their artwork. Bulky or large pieces of work should be photographed and brought in a portfolio booklet.

Covid Protocols: At this time, mask wearing is optional. If COVID cases increase at any point and we are recommended by local health organizations, we may return to mandatory mask wearing. Classes and workshops held in all spaces at the art center utilize an HVAC system supplemented with portable HEPA filtration systems. Fresh air is introduced whenever possible. High-touch surfaces are wiped down regularly using certified cleaning agents. Hand sanitizer is available in all classrooms. 

About the Reviewers

Rob Bacall: Founder of RBR ~ Robert Bacall Representatives - has over 35 years’ experience representing some of the world’s best talent.  RBR represents over a dozen artists ranging from photographers, retouchers, directors, CGI and 3D animation artists. Before founding RBR in 1987, Robert spent several years working in the photo industry which he believes sets him apart from his peers.  Rob studied photography at New York's School of Visual Arts and has held positions at photo labs, and several photography studios as well as running a successful still life and food studio in New York.

Mikel Cirkus: As a modern anthropologist, Mikel wades through the noise of society to find the signals that could dictate the next big lifestyle trend of tomorrow. Incorporating over thirty-years of global insights with a truly creative lens enables Mikel to see patterns that bring cultural depth to brand authenticity. He is currently the Global Creative Director of Foresight & Trenz for the Flavors Division of Firmenich, - where creativity is both an essence and a guiding principle. Mikel’s career as a professional Art Director, Illustrator, Graphic Designer, Photographer, Writer, and Teacher spans nearly 40 years.
 

Jaime Alford: Creativity and design form her DNA, curiosity and exploration ignite her questions, connecting and innovating fill her calendar. Jaime is a 20+ year global creative professional in the fragrance industry with a focus on amplifying future scenarios, concepts and opportunities. The expansive thinking vital in art and design has prepared Jaime well for her career path. Knowing she wanted to become an artist, she took every art course available at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ, earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the College of New Jersey, started her career in advertising at Coyne Communications in Morristown, NJ then landed at Firmenich in Plainsboro, NJ in 2001. Jaime is the Global Creative Director, Strategic Foresight at Firmenich.
