Summary

Beyond the Lines is a graphite and charcoal drawing class that explores the expressive, non-linear elements of drawing. Through studies of light and shadow, composition, gesture, notans, and the visual language of shape and form, participants will learn to observe more intentionally and create drawings with greater depth, clarity, and impact. Emphasis will be placed on understanding value relationships, simplifying complex forms, and using expressive mark-making to communicate volume and atmosphere. Participants can expect to leave with a strong understanding of the differences between hard, soft, and lost edges, along with the confidence to use them intentionally to guide the viewer's eye and strengthen their drawings. Whether you're joining for the first time or returning to continue building your skills, this class offers opportunities to deepen your understanding and expand your artistic practice.

A one-time materials fee of $35 is due on the first day of class.

Description

Let your imagination run wild in this unique theatrical experience where students can step into the world of fantasy and bring their own characters to life! Through improv theater, creative games, and character-building activities, young actors will explore what it means to create, develop, and embody a role. Students will have the opportunity to become anything from a brave warrior to a fearless princess, a magical creature, or a character entirely from their own imagination.

Throughout the class, actors will build foundational performance skills while learning how to work as a team, improvise, follow directions, create dynamic characters, and tell engaging stories. Theater games and activities will help students strengthen confidence, communication, listening, and collaboration skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Join us for an exciting adventure where creativity and storytelling come together! Families are invited to celebrate students’ hard work and newly developed skills with a showcase performance on the final day of class.
