Fridays: Urban Sketching: Transforming Your Photos into Art (Adults)

This class invites participants to use their own photographs as inspiration to create drawings and paintings of places, buildings, landscapes, and everyday scenes. Students will learn how to observe their reference images, simplify complex subjects, develop strong compositions, and translate photographs into expressive works of art. Through sketching and the use of watercolor or pastel, participants will explore line, value, color, and artistic interpretation while developing their own creative style. The class is designed for all skill levels, from beginners who want guidance in developing their drawing and painting skills to experienced artists looking to refine their approach to visual storytelling.
Materials participants should bring to class:

• Their own photographs to use as reference images
• Sketchbook or drawing paper
• Drawing pencils (such as HB, 2B, or similar)
• Fine-tip pens for line work (optional)
• Watercolor set and brushes and/or Pastels
• Eraser and pencil sharpener
