Explore the technique of Collagraph and print your hand-build plates with an etching press.  No prior printmaking experience required. Collagraph printmaking starts from a base layer that you can carve, embellish, scratch and glue to create wonderful textures.  Anything relatively soft and thin can become part of a collagraph plate - pressed plants, feathers, fabrics, and torn papers are some examples. These textures and shapes are then inked by hand and printed under pressure to reveal your image.  The 3 session class will explore single color collagraphs and ways to add in additional color layers. This technique is great for both abstract ideas as well as compositional image ideas.  Come ready to have some fun and learn how to use a hand-cranked etching press.
