Artist Statement: I picked up these wooden tops in Mexico many years ago because everything about them makes me happy; their size and weight, their colorful stripes and even their handmade, not-exactly-the-same-size nature. In order to make this wall sculpture, I cut the tops in half and arranged the pieces into a balanced composition that transports me back to my younger years when the days spun by full of brightness and ease.
