Park Walkers by Bob Barish
Medium: oil on board
Dimensions: 11 x 14 inches
Location: Painted at Greenway Meadows, Princeton, NJ, mid-Summer
Artist Statement: Being the coordinator for the “River Rats Plein Air Painting Group” I have a repertoire of local sites that have become my favorites, Greenway Meadows is one of them. While painting at the site, 2 women walked by with a dog, I decided to put them into the painting to show scale and a focal point of interest. I took a quick photo as a reference to put them in later back in my studio.
Bio: Plein air painting appeals to me because of the immediacy of events taking place around me that forever become part of a life experience memory. The sights, sounds, feel of a breeze, drizzle of rain, even a bug laboriously making it’s way across the canvas bogged down in a bed of sticky oil paint leaving a set of tiny tracks become part of the painting process.
