Artist Statement: White Picket Fence was created from a place along a back street of Provincetown, Cape Cod. In the art I use layers of digital transfers, applied colors and acrylic paint and various textures and papers to the scene. I always think of it as the pink hydrangea, full of exuberance, exploding out of its allotted spot in life. I hope the viewer finds that same passion in their life.
Bio: Kimberly is a mixed media artist combining photography, painting and various other materials in her work. Her goal is to create something that expresses what she saw and the impression left in her mind from the scene. As someone schooled in photography, she recognizes that a photograph is a record of a single moment in time which can be regarded as both a goal and a limitation at the same time. With her work, she hopes to evoke both the sense of place (moment in time) and the changing feel (light, weather, sense of calm or urgency) of a location.
Kimberly received a BS in Studio Art from Stony Brook and immediately started her career as a commercial photographer. She has photographed for major corporations, advertising agencies and editorial publications. Her work has won several awards including inclusion in the book and exhibition Ten Thousand Eyes, ASMP and was awarded the Award of Excellence from Communication Arts Photography Annual. As an artist, her work is inspired from her perception of nature and her photography, often combining the two. She currently works for West Windsor Arts.
