Artist Statement: I am interested in creating a work of art that is alive with emotional interest similar to poetry and music. The endless choices of color combinations and their relationships to one another is exciting for me and drives me to create work that enlivens and gives pause to the viewer.

Bio:   Shirley Kern is an abstract painter residing in Princeton, New Jersey who creates art in her nearby studio in Hopewell. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Northern Vermont University.
