Urban Evolution by Barbara Weinfield
Medium: oil on canvas
12 x16 inches
Artist Statement: Human habitats grow and evolve over time. The foreground of my painting shows a village that was born from the wilderness, that then grew into a town (in this case, New York City). The town became a city (represented by the Empire State Building, shown at the right). The city grew again, now with many new ultra-skyscrapers (ex, Hudson Yards, as represented here in blues).
Bio: Barbara Weinfield has studied oil painting with Pietro Smith, John Murdoch, and currently with Zakia Ahmed (since 2013). Her solo exhibitions include Portraits of New Jersey, (Trenton, NJ) and Time and Place (West Windsor, NJ). Her works have also appeared in several group exhibitions at the West Windsor Arts Council, St. Peter’s Hospital (New Brunswick, NJ) and with the Zakia Art Alliance.
