Forsaken Tracks by Karen E Repka
Medium: photography
13 x 15.5 inches
Artist Statement: These tracks, now at Liberty State Park, once carried millions of newly arrived immigrants (probably even my own grandparents heading from Finland to Ohio) to start their new lives. They had just stepped off the Ellis Island ferry into the train yard (20 + tracks, one of the largest in our country) to embark on their new lives. Years later, the forgotten, weed infested tracks were finally been restored as a testimony to the courage of our ancestors to embrace change!
