Winery Meetup by Margaret Simpson
Medium: watercolor, plein air painting
24 x 18 inches
Artist Statement: I chose my plein air watercolor painting “Winery Meetup” of a nearby winery to represent the theme of this exhibit. An old field row of trees standing in the distance (represents Yesterday). Often trees were planted to show the division of properties handed down by generation. The rows of grapevine stock in fruit represents Today. The empty red Adirondack chairs in an intimate circle around a hidden firepit beckon visitors to have fun, and become new friends (Tomorrow). The bright red of chairs sit waiting in expectation, as a focal point of the painting and a symbol of good times to come.
