Artist Statement: This painting is based on plein-air study and studio work. Bring inside the outdoors to further my study of the painting process.
Jersey Inspiration: This piece was a day out with an artist friend at the Great Swamp. I grew up with an artist in the family who painted there often. Water, birds, wildlife and beauty of the swamps. Great Swamp Basking Ridge, NJ
Bio: Tracy Pollock is a native of New Jersey she works full time and paints, takes commissions to maintain her art career. In 2000 she moved to the Portland Oregon area, returning in 2004 to Warren County, New Jersey.
She paints landscapes, still lifes and animal portraits. Her choice of painting mediums are oils, watercolor, mixed media and pastels. Tracy’s style borders on impressionism with her bold color and loosely painted brushwork.
Tracy’s commissioned animal portraits look like oils though painted in pastels.
Tracy knew she wanted to be a painter from a young age, maybe her introduction at a young age to artist Lee W. Hughes solidified that for her. She studied at duCret School of the Arts, Plainfield NJ from 1982-1985. Mainly fine art but received a Certificate in Graphic Arts. She worked as a graphic artist in the Advertising field, freelanced over 15 years and was an art director at an in-house marketing department.
Tracy went to the Student’s Art League of NYC on weekends from 2007-2008 studying with Oldrich Teply, Joseph Peller and 2020 on-line with Henry Finkelstein.
Leaving corporate in 2013 she partnered with Connoisseur Gallery in Bedminster, NJ. She helped run the gallery, worked in the shop framing and apprenticed at oil painting restoration and frame restoration.
Her work can be seen at local arts and crafts fairs/festivals in New Jersey, while promoting her animal portrait commissions. Tracy also enters juried arts shows throughout the tri-state area.
Tracy has taught privately in group settings and individually outdoors.
Her paintings are held in private collections throughout the US.
