Artist Statement: One branch of my family history has been in NJ for generations; the others are more recent. This tree represents my family history and connection to New Jersey: both long established and home to new lives and growth. Both my past and my future.
Jersey Inspiration: Having lived in New Jersey for most of my life, I considered how I view my connection to the state, and a tree was the best metaphor I could come up with.
Bio: Laura Warne is a fiber and mixed media artist who studied fine art at Carnegie Mellon University (2005) and is a graduate of West Windsor Plainsboro High School (2001). She works full-time as a graphic designer and has recently begun showing her art publicly.
