Artist Statement: Recently, I have been improvising abstract paintings made up of hundreds of individually deliberate marks layered on top of artwork I had previously put aside as “unfinished”. Throughout the process of making the work, I attempt to balance spontaneity with control, and I hope that the final product conveys that.
Bio: For years, I have been exploring ways in which I can use various techniques and materials to create images, objects, and environments in which the ordinary may become mysterious, and through which the viewer might be left with something unresolved.
In my representational and abstract work, the most common subjects are people and animals.
