acrylic collage on paper
24 x 18 inches
Year created: 2024
Description: A collage of green, red, yellow, blue, and brown narrow rectangles, triangles, and squares against a jet-black background with a crescent moon suspended over the shapes.
Connection to the theme: “Luna Crescente” is a collage inspired by the beautiful Italian poem, "La luna di Kiev" by Gianni Rodari. This poem, written over 60 years ago is about our shared humanity.

Artist Statement: Inspired by the works of Kurt Schwitters, Louise Nevelson, Ad Reinhardt, Margarita Calvary, Paul Klee, Elizabeth Catlett, Alexander Calder, Lee Krasner, and many other great artists, when making collages, my only plan is not to have one, except to try and create a mood with shapes and colors, while using whatever happens to appear on my desk.
Bio: Bettina creates collages and assemblages, often using acrylic, gouache, and watercolor paint, ink, paper, wire, wood, and found objects. She has studied with Donna Payton,
Priscilla Snow Algava and Amanda Chesney. She is a member of the West Windsor Arts Council and the New Hope Arts Center.
