Description: An intricate illustration in the style of the Indian folk art of Mithila in subtle reds, green, and yellow depicting the earth surrounded by delicate mystical motifs of flowers, birds, animals, and the sun.
Connection to the theme: The artwork 'Family' is inspired by the theme 'Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam" which means World as a family. The theme of the artwork goes well with ‘The environment’. The artwork is done in Mithila style which is one of the many Indian folk art forms.

The centerpiece of the artwork is our own World surrounded by all living beings like humans, animals, and plants. Sun and moon are there indicating the fuel for life. The humans are holding hands, birds are facing one another, and animals are placed in a linear way to symbolize unity and inclusiveness in the Earth family. The artwork contains intricate motifs and patterns to symbolize unity and harmony in our beloved community.

Artist Statement: My art journey is influenced by the cultural richness of India, where I grew up, and the contemporary art of the Western world. Indian folk art always has some stories behind it which involve community work or religious functions. It perfectly matches my desire for visual storytelling through pen and paper. I am drawn towards the child-like simplicity, often two-dimensional in nature, vivid earthen colors, and intricate patterns influenced by natural elements found in folk art. Deeply inspired by traditional Indian folk art, I sometimes find joy in incorporating elements of this rich heritage into her work.
