Connection to the theme: In Turbulent Waters, I use the quote by Mahatma Gandhi amid the roaring landscape to express the struggle for diversity.
Artist Statement: Having read The Art Spirit by Robert Henri, I was captivated by one of his quotes: “There are moments in our lives, there are moments in a day when we seem to see beyond the usual. Such are moments of our greatest happiness.” This has stayed with me throughout my artistic career.
Bio: Lydia Congiu was born in South Jersey where she currently lives and works.
Graduating from Moore College of Art, in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Illustration, she has been a greeting card manufacturer of her handmade line of cards entitled “Lydia’s Land “ for over thirty years.
She has created numerous pieces of artwork using a variety of mediums which she has exhibited in galleries throughout the East Coast since 2014. In 2023, she received the NJ Fellowship for Craft from the NJ Council of the Arts for her mosaics.

First place in Professional Craft from the NJ State Senior Art Show.
The Gene D'Agostino Award for Landscape from the Willingboro Art Alliance at their 27th Annual Juried Art Exhibit for "The Woods Whisper".
The Barbara Shieldkret Memorial Award for Mixed Media at The Guild of Creative Art Juried Show in Shrewsbury, NJ
