Five African women wash their laundry in a river.  The river bed has rocks in the flowing water and plants in the background. Two children in a light purple and a yellow dress with backs to the viewer are talking to one of the women.  In the background clothes have been laid on the plants to dry.

Connection to the theme: This community may be poor, but they have no poverty of spirit.

Artist Statement: I paint in oil and in watercolor, and do abstract pen and ink drawings. My current medium of choice is mixed media--- large, colorful abstract collages.

Bio: I worked overseas in developing countries, as a Medical Illustrator and as a Health

Educator. For 25 years, I have served on the Monroe Twp. Cultural Arts Commission.
