Description: Five African women wash their laundry in a river. The riverbed has rocks in the flowing water and plants in the background. Two children in a light purple and yellow dress with backs to the viewer are talking to one of the women. In the background, clothes have been laid on the plants to dry.
Connection to the theme: This community may be poor, but they have no poverty of spirit.
Artist Statement: I paint in oil and in watercolor, and do abstract pen and ink drawings. My current medium of choice is mixed media--- large, colorful abstract collages.
Bio: I worked overseas in developing countries, as a Medical Illustrator and as a Health
Educator. For 25 years, I have served on the Monroe Twp. Cultural Arts Commission.
