Artist Statement: I am a multi-media collage and textile artist exploring intersectionality through a feminist lens. Using materials such as paper, fabric, and string, my work portrays various concepts relating to gender, race, and culture. My artistic practice celebrates the beauty of diversity, recognizing that our inherent differences strengthen the resilience of our communities. Each creation invites meaningful introspection and dialogue, encouraging viewers to reflect on their place within a shared and interconnected world.

Bio: Johanna Liao is a collage and textile artist from Princeton Jct., NJ. She received a B.S. in Fashion Design and a Minor in Art History from Drexel University. Her senior fashion design collection received a Swift Fund Grant and the Kenneth and Faatima Gamble Universal Award for Excellence. She holds an M.S. in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania, where she interned at the Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Johanna has been the Assistant Director of Admissions at the School for Environment and Sustainability and Executive Assistant to the Chair of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. In 2024, she was commissioned by the Ann Arbor District Library to create a multi-media collage celebrating female entrepreneurs and leaders for the Ann Arbor 200 Project. Currently, she is the Executive Assistant to the Dean of the School of Architecture at Princeton University.
