Artist Statement: I've been working with different types of materials to create texture and focusing on atmospheric abstracts. This piece was inspired by a much larger work using artist and masking tape, and miscellaneous acrylic paints and sprays to get a sense of softness and space. The taped areas in this piece create peaks and "points" which are tipped with metallic silver to accentuate the points and reflect light. With each day's news cycle I find myself ruminating a lot on the future. The day I finished this piece I kept asking myself why I'm putting so much of my energy into worrying about things I cannot change and asked myself "what's the point?". The Universe is big and in this piece we sort of see how much more there is than just our tiny piece of it.
