Bio: As a child I was passionate about art and designing and making my own clothing. My father encouraged me to pursue a career in science instead of fashion. After establishing my career as a university professor, I returned to earlier interests in clothing construction and became frustrated with commercial fabrics. I began painting, printing, and dying silk fabrics. After some success in selling the garments made with these fabrics, I began to focus on surface design of the textiles and create wall hangings. After retiring from the paid workplace, I now devote considerable time to making textile art. I also study art and teach about it as a docent at two museums.
