Artist Statement: This watercolor painting is very similar to my first artwork. It shows my interest in the different facades of this maiko. The maiko is the apprentice that practices before becoming a geisha. This also shows my artistic process of creating images of different parts of the video. I like this Japanese culture, and I am interested in how my culture could be similar.
Bio: Jane Yuan received her BA in French from Cornell University in 2016, and she received her MFA in Studio Art from San Francisco Art Institute in 2020. She was born in Princeton, NJ and grew up in the San Francisco bay area. She has participated in several art shows that she has been a member of. She has been a member of Solas studio, West Windsor arts council, and others. Recently, she has been working on watercolor paintings as a medium. She is interested in Asian culture and clothing.
