Class: Guided Oil Painting with Teaching Artist Zakia Ahmed
Artist Statement: I was amazed by the view of IAS at dusk when I saw it that day. Usually, it’s just a place to work—often associated with stress. But in that moment, I saw its beauty, and I felt compelled to recreate that feeling in my painting. I carefully adjusted the values to capture the softness of dusk and make the building’s lights glow. Through my brushstrokes, I tried to convey a sense of calm and stillness. My teacher, Zakia, offered valuable guidance and encouragement, which helped me improve the piece step by step. I’m also grateful for my supportive classmates, whose presence made the process even more meaningful.
